UT had some interesting maps. i might argue that some almost qualified as abstract art.

lol have you seen what the modders cooked up over the decades? Maps designed for the Strangelove mod, where you could ride (and hop off of) nuke missiles, maps designed for LowGrav instagib + translocator that were for example a nicely detailed bathroom but the players were the size of mice. Only exists on some hard drives now, nobody plays it anymore.
